Abstract:The evolution equation of the solitary wave propagating in a photovoltaic photorefractive crystal illuminated by an e polarised incoherent uniform background irradiation is derived under steady state and open circuit conditions.The bright soliton solution is presented by numerical integration procedure.The analytic solution and width expression for the bright soliton are also obtained in the low amplitude regime.The effect of the e polarised background irradiation on the photovoltaic soliton is investigated on open circuit condition.It is shown that it is unfavourable for the formation of photovoltaic soliton when the e polarised background irradiance is far higher than the dark irradiance.
