Abstract:The transceiver,the key component on the plastic optical fiber(POF) communication links,was reported.Two design methods,replacing the light source and detector in the transceiver on glass optical fiber(GOF) links and designing from scratch,were adopted in the experiment.LD and LED with 650 nm central wavelength were used as the light source respectively.Fast Ethernet based on POF links was built.Eye diagrams and file transfers experiments were performed to test the POF communication links.POF has wide prospect in the short-haul,small and medium capacity communication systems.
