The recent progress of key optical devices in optical networks reported on 2004 optical fiber communication conference were reviewed.The emphasis was stressed on the progress of filter,optical switch,variable optical attenuato (VOA),all-optical wavelength converter(AOWC) and wavelength-selective switch(WSS).The principles and structures of these latest optical devices were introduced.
