A novel packaging method for fiber Bragg grating(FBG) is presented in this paper,which is easy to operate and reliable.In the experiment,the prestressing device exertes the axial prestress on FBG,and then the FBG is packaged on the surface of elastic substrate by high temperature curing agents.The experiment shows that the eight packaged FBG sensors have good linearity which is above 0.999 and the waveform hasn′t any chirp.The average temperature sensitivity coefficient of the packaged FBG is 2.05×10-5/℃ which is close to the theoretical value,and the average deviation is 0.04×10-5/℃.Moreover,the coefficient of strain transfer coupling is 1 approximately.This packaging technique can effectively control the performance of the FBG,which is important to the extensive using of FBG sensor.
