The combination of green fluorescent protein (GFP) image and phase-cont rast image is valuable for function analyses of protein and precise structure localization of sub-cellular.It is difficult to balance the grey structural information of high frequency and the colored molecular distribution information of low frequency in one fused ima ge due to the low similarity between the two original images.Here we propose a new hybrid image fusion method which is based on Contourlet transform in hue-intensity-saturation (HIS) domain.Different fusion strategies are used to the approximation subband,de tail subban ds of the finest scale and other detail subbands, respectively.And the weight between two images is adjusted with the regional con sis tency measurement (RCM) adaptively.The experimental results of 117groups of arabidopsis cell images which are from Joh n Inner Center demonstrate that the new algorithm not only preserves the details of original images well,but also improves the vis ibility of the fusion image,which shows the superiority of the novel method to traditional methods.
