Abstract:In order to achieve biological compound eyes′ optical properties,t his paper presents a method for fabricating curved microlens arrays to imitate b iological compound eyes structure by using conventional photoresist melting method and norland optical adhesive 73(NOA73) UV curing technology.First,a series of plane convex microlenses with different curvatures and widths are fabricated on a silicon substrate through the photoresist melting method,which have the uniform focusing characteristics and smoothness.Through comparing the focusing effects between two plane microlens ar rays with NOA73and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS).it is concluded that NOA73has b etter optical properties.Then using the PDMS flexible characteristics and NOA73UV cu ring properties,the curved microlens array are made.Finally making imaging tests and intensity distribution tests,the results show that the curved microlens arr ays′ size reaches micron level through this method,with the light transmission rate reaches 100%,with good optical performance,good repeatability,feasibility,a nd its fabrication is simple,fast,low cost,and capable of imitating part of opt ical properties of biological compound eyes structure.
