Abstract:Er3+-doped tellurite glasses with composition in mol percent of 75TeO2-10Nb2O5-10ZnO-5Na2O-0.5Er2O3-xCe2O3( x=0.00,0.25,0.50,0.75,1.00) were prepared by conventional melt-quenchi ng method. The absorption spectra,up-conversion luminescence spectra,Raman spectra and the flu orescence spectra of the glasses were measured. The intensity parameters Ωt(t=2,4,6), spontaneous radiative transition probability A,fluor escence branching ratio β and radiative lifetime τrad were calculated by Judd-Ofelt theory, and the Er3+ stimu lated emission cross-section was calculated by McCumber theory. The bandwidth quality factor (σpeake×FWHM) and gain qu ality factor (σpeake×τm) of Er3+ ions were compared between the glasses, and the energy transfer (ET) mechanism between Er3+/Ce3+ ions and th e suppression effect of Ce3+ ions on up-conversion luminescence were also analyzed. The studies indicate that the add ition of appropriate amount of Ce3+ ions can improve the spectral properties of Er3+-doped telluri um-niobium-zinc-sodium glasses.
