Abstract:A novel high frequency fiber Bragg grating (FBG) accelerometer with s tainless steel capillary and polymer is proposed,in order to adapt the need of the transformer′s internal vibrati on monitoring. The structure and working principle of the sensor are described. The static and dynamic characteristics of the sensor are analyzed by using the finite element method with different capillary thicknesses and a variety of poly mers.According to the simulation parameters, the vibration sensor is developed, and the sensitivity and amplitude frequency ch aracteristics are tested by shaking table test.Experimental results show that when selecting polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA ) as polymer filling material and capillary thickness changes as 0.1mm,0.2mm and 0.3mm,the resonant frequencies of the sensor are 1000Hz,1050Hz and 1100Hz,and the sensitivities are 32pm/g,26pm/g and18pm/g.When selecting Epoxy resin as polymer filling materi al and capillary thickness changes as 0.1mm,0.2mm and 0.3mm,the resonant frequencies of the sensor arfe 900Hz, 1000Hz and 1050Hz,and the sensitivities are 35pm/g、29pm/g and 20pm/g.
