Bend scattering polarization effect of polymer dispersed liquid crystal films

    摘要:

    实验制备了聚合物分散液晶(PDLC)电控调光膜样品 。测试结果表明,样品散射雾度90%以上;施加电场透明透光率接近 80%;施加弯曲应力半透明最大透光率30%以上。分析了样品施加应力 后出现的弯 曲散射偏光现象,弯曲应力导致双极构型的双极连线有沿弯曲方向的大致沿面取向,使 得液晶 微滴中液晶分子有沿面大致取向,导致液晶微滴的折射率沿弯曲方向与聚合物折射率差别大 造成光散射,而沿垂直弯曲方向与聚合物折射率相等造成光透射。

    Abstract:

    The concepts of polymer dispersed liquid crystal and strained liquid cr ystal are introduced,and the experimental study on the bend scattering polarization effect of polymer dispers ed liquid crystal film is given. The polymer dispersed liquid crystal electric-controlled switchable film sample is prepared.The haze of the scattering state is more than 90%,the transmittance of the transparent state is close to 80% when the electric field is applied,and the maximum transmittance of the translucent state is more than 30% when bending stress is applied.When the sample is curved,it has the function of scattering polarizer,and the light axis is in the curved cylinder bus direction.The test c urves of transmittance,haze and polarizing efficiency varying with the curvature radius of the sample are given.Based on t he principle of bending scattering polarization effect,it is considered that the bending stress makes th e bipolar connection of the bipolar configuration have a general surface orientation along the bending di rection,and the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal droplets have a general orientation along the su rface.It induces that the refractive index of liquid crystal is equal to that of the polymer perpendicu lar to the bending direction,which leads to the polarizing light to be transparent.The refractive index of liquid c rystal is different from that of the polymer parallel to the bending direction,w hich causes the polarizing light to be scattering.
